Been featured...

Journal Entry: Fri Jun 13, 2008, 2:56 AM
...several times the last weeks. I wanted to give a little overview - I hope that's ok for you and you don't see in me a new Narcissus of Photography now.
I am so happy about this development, thanks a lot to all my featurers :blowkiss: !!

Here we go:

Really, I am very happy about all this! Look especially at the context of the features - there are so many great pictures which deserve more attention! And to see my pictures among them makes me feel proud. Nevertheless I do sometimes wonder, why especially THIS picture was feature as I often do think there are better in my gallery ^^; . But hey, I do not want to moan about this ;)

But now for something completely different: University grabbed me with its claws and I am unable to escape. A very descripting anecdote about my current status: when I wanted to load up my next picture here on dA the first folder which appeared was "Protokolle" (=journals). I feel like doing nothing else since the last weeks - describing the experiments I did. There are about three weeks to my exams and I did not started to learn yet. It is so annoying! I love my studies but I hate my status.
Well, today I do not need to leave the house which means that I can WORK nonstop. But which also means, that I do not have any time pressure today :)

Between all this stress it is like a silver lining at the horizon to see that people do like my photography and want to share it with others. Thank you so much!

The Great Canary

Journal Entry: Sat Apr 5, 2008, 2:26 AM
Yesterday (30.3.) I came back home from a 10 days trip to Gran Canaria. If you do not know, where the island is located, look here: [link]
Many people are surprised by the geological location of the Canary Islands, for it is parallel to the border of Morocco and Western Sahara! But politically they do belong to Spain.
It was my seventh stay at the Canary Islands at all, and my second at Gran Canaria.
Most people (especially germans, for about 90% I suggest of all the tourists are indeed from Germany) connect this name with white beaches and palms - and red, sunburned, fat tourists. Honestly, you can find them indeed at Gran Canaria. And fortunately, most of them at ONE point of the island: Maspalomas/Playa de Ingles. There you can find also not only white beaches, but a whole mini-desert! If you travel there you can take a five minutes walk to from your hotel to the beach and stay there for the rest of your holidays.
This is what I never did on any of the Canary Islands (by the way, Gran Canaria gives your for that kind of holiday the best conditions).

The 10 days I spend together with my family in a house in the mountains. Nevertheless, we had a palm in front of it ;) . It was wonderful, I used neither TV nor a watch, my mobile phone I did left at home, do not ask me, where the next internet point was - I even did not read the newspaper! But I took my camera with me :D . The most time we hiked through the mountains and valleys, my feet still hurt und my shoulders are sunburned. I took about 400 pictures - many flowers, and more pictures of (well, guess..) mountains. I will load up some of them, the first you can already see here: [link]

I hope you will enjoy them!

And thanks for all the fish

Journal Entry: Thu Feb 21, 2008, 11:33 AM
due to the fact that i do not know what to tell you else and because i find this subject quite important i want to tell you something about fish.

fish is important for your health. ask your (grand-)parents, friends or doctors for the reasons. second, it is tasty. and third, several (and more and more) species are more or less threatened. this is no excuse for doing without fish. but you should inform yourself about the sources of your fish in the deep-freezer.
now you could click yourself a long way through the world wide web - or you try this one: [link]
(pdf, german) or [link] (pdf, US).
to use the US-phrase, these are "Fish-Yes-Lists" which shall help you on your trip through the supermarket.
do your conscience and the fishes a favour and try it :) .

what more is to say... oh, "C for Caracas" ([link]) was honorable mentioned at the abstract-alphabet-contest by :iconcircleofconfusion:, :iconzeitwolf: and :icondeadstarkew: ([link]).
but please take more attention on that fish-thing :)
